6 Scariest and best horror movies ever

1. Joker

Joker 2019 horror movie
Joker is one of the best psychological thrillers released in the last few years, and you’ll not be able to stop talking about it.

Far from the goofy antics of Batman and Robin, this film’s all about the dark depths of the Joker and how he came to be. Despite the name sounding amusing, this scary movie is definitely not a laughing matter. A great horror film if you’re looking to be gripped, but it’s not one for family night.

2. Insidious

Insidious demon
This one is a horror film about a supernatural force that has attached itself to a family. First released back in 2010, it’s a cult-classic of the haunted house genre.

If you watched Saw, or Sinister and you liked that, you might like this one – or at least enjoy the jump scares. It tells the story of a couple who are trying to deal with their young son, who is being impacted by dark forces and demons. A must-see if you haven’t watched it!

3. The Woman In Black

The Woman in Black Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe, famously known for portraying Harry Potter, plays Arthur Kipps in this creepy tale. Mr Kipps, a solicitor travels to a village in the middle of nowhere, living in a big creepy mansion. Things are certainly not right from the very beginning as it seems that he is not alone. You’ll be kept on the edge of your seat by jump scares and strange shadows. It’s safe to say you’ll be going to bed feeling very creeped out afterwards. The Woman In Black is about a ghost getting her revenge, but there’s more to the story…

4. Gerald’s Game

Gerald's Game (Netflix)
This Stephen King adaptation was produced in 2017 and is a Netflix orginal. So, this is a good one if you’re a Stephen King fan and you’re looking for some horror movies on Netflix.

A lady finds herself in a dire predicament when her husband dies of a sudden heart attack while they’re on holiday. The trouble is that she is handcuffed to the bed in their very isolated holiday home and must find a way to escape.

5. The Conjuring

The Conjuring horror movie
Another one of the scariest horror movies, starring Patrick Wilson and Sterling Jerins. It’s actually an American supernatural film which is theoretically based on real life events, at least loosely.

Did you know that there are actually 7 movies in this series? The age rating is 18 so definitely a serious classic when it comes to the big horror movies.

6. The Others

The Others Nicole Kidman
Produced in 2001, The Others is about a young woman (played by Nicole Kidman) and her children, who get sent to live in an old English home during world war II. When lots of strange things start to happen, the woman starts to think that the house may be haunted.

There isn’t anything too gory in this one. As a PG-12, it could be one for a family night in the spooky season. Are you not one for the terrifying classics and get freaked at the thought of an ouija board and an evil supernatural force? Us too!

If you don’t want to find the scariest movie but you want a bit of a creepy film, we’d go with this one.

Hopefully, our horror movies have geared you up for the perfect scary night in. Whether it’s Halloween or a spooky evening, you’re sure to find something to get your heart rate up with these creepy scary movies.
