What broadband technology does Airband use?

Airband provides two different broadband services: fibre and fixed wireless.

Fibre is internet transmitted through cables of bundled optic wires from a central cabinet. These are often dug under the street or hung overhead on poles, and then brought into your home.

Our wireless service consists of a network of signal masts across the country that transmit internet via radio waves. When you join Airband, a small receiver on your property allows you to pick up this internet signal in your home.

What’s the difference between fixed wireless and fibre technologies?

There are a lot of differences between the two technologies.

Fixed wireless technology works on a line-of-sight principle. If the main mast can be seen with no obstruction, then you can get broadband with us. Our skilled team will guide you through the process and provide a comprehensive survey prior to install. Typical wireless speeds are an average of 40Mbps.

Our fibre service acts like traditional broadband. Using industry grade optic cables, we deliver your service from a local hub, right to your property. All you do is plug in the router and start enjoying faster speeds from 100Mbps up to 1000Mbps (1Gps).
