Whatever the time of year, there’s nothing better than sticking a classic comedy movie on and enjoying it together with the family, on a great fibre broadband connection of course.

But which of all the family comedies out there do you watch when there is just so much choice? There are so many brilliant directors, actors and actresses in the field of comedy! From Amy Adams and Chris Miller to Robin Williams, the list can be endless.

A young boy gets left at home when his mum, dad and siblings all go on a family trip to Paris, and he gets left behind! Watch Kevin McCalister’s journey, starring Joe Pesci and Macaulay Culkin.

We think this one is a timeless classic, especially during the festive period.

2. Shaun the Sheep Movie

This follows Shaun and the rest of his flock, as they adventure into the city to save their farmer, who is stuck there with amnesia as a result of their earlier antics, all the while trying to evade capture.

3. Ice Age

If you, or more likely the kids, love talking animals, then Ice Age is the perfect film for you! It’s hard to believe it came out all the way  back in 2002.

You’ll be laughing non stop as a funny group of mammals gang together to try to survive the ice age.

4. Toy Story

The wonderfully funny adventures of Buzz Lightyear and Woody are sure to keep the kids entertained for the evening, and even you too if you’re up for a good family night in with a funny, cheesy film.

It’s a Disney classic loved by millions all over the world.

5. Inside Out

Inside Out
This one’s quite literally an emotional Pixar animation. Riley, who’s 11, struggles to adjust to new family life when she and her mum and dad all move to San Francisco, from Minnesota.

Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black and Mindy Kaling all star in this one, made in 2015. It’s got a clever way of showing how emotions interact. A physical comedy of how emotions come to life!

6. Freaky Friday

Lindsay Lohan (Anna) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess) play a mum and daughter who do not see eye to eye. Anna and Tess constantly clash with everything, including fashion styles and relationships! Tess is burnt out at work and Anna is a typical teenager and rock band member.

One day, they wake up in each other’s bodies. What could go wrong?

7. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory
Whether you prefer the Tim Burton version, or the original directed the original in 1971, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a great comedy family movie.

In this film adaptation based on the book by Roald Dahl, a young boy called Charlie Bucket, who seems to be down on his luck wins the ticket of his dreams. His golden ticket gets him 2 entries to the mysterious chocolate factory, and he chooses to bring his Grandpa Joe.

He meets Oompa Loompas, a whole world of delicious chocolate, and so much more than he could ever have dreamed of.

8. School of Rock

School Of Rock
Jack Black is fantastic in this 2003 movie. Dewey Finn has been kicked out of the rock band he’s a part of and loves so dearly.

He goes on an epic journey, soon becoming a substitute teacher, and starts teaching his kids the wonders of rock music.

It’s a real laugh-out-loud, feel-good watch!

9. Paddington

In 2014, Ben Wishaw plays Paddington, the friendliest bear you’ll ever meet! He walks, talks and innocently gets himself into all sorts of trouble. He embarks on a trip from Peru to London and ends up with the Brown’s family.

10. Monsters Inc

Meet our favourite two monsters. We all know Mike and Sully!

With the voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman, this comedy is another must-watch from Disney-Pixar for the family.

11. Matilda

Matilda
In 1996, a young girl attends a new school. She lives with her very mean family but is incredibly kind-hearted. At her school, she meets a similarly lovely teacher, as well as a horrible head teacher.

She soon discovers she has psychic and magical powers.

12. Spy Kids

Spy Kids
Two kids we all love are the Spy Kids! Daryl Sabara and Alexa PenaVega play Juni and Carmen Cortez in this action-packed comedy for all the family.

It first came out in 2001, and follows Juni and Carmen with their super cool gadgets. They have to save their parents when they are captured by an enemy.

13. Jumanji

Jumanji
Set in 1995, Robin Williams stars in this adventure comedy movie as Alan Parrish. A couple of kids are playing a magical board game, when they meet Alan. He’s been trapped in the game for quite some time, and needs some help getting out!

This is the best film if you love the hilarious Robin Williams and a bit of adventure for the kids.

14. Finding Nemo

This 2013 family comedy is all about our lovable friend, Nemo. Unexpectedly, Nemo is taken from his lovely home at the Great Barrier Reef and is rehomed in an aquarium, at a dentist’s office of all places!

His family and friends go about helping Marlin, Nemo’s dad, to try and rescue Nemo and bring him safely home.

15. Kung Fu Panda

Po, played by Jack Black, loves Kung Fu, and in this 2008 comedy for the family, he passionately wants to join the Furious Five in order to bring peace to his village.

It’s a film which is a really easy watch for any time of the year.

16. Father of the Bride

It’s back to 1991 for this funny, but romantic movie. A young girl comes home from her overseas studies and tells her mum and dad, George and Nina, that she’s engaged to be married.

Watch the emotional, quick-witted film of somewhat overprotective George alongside Nina, as they deal with meeting the in-laws and all the joys that come with their daughter’s wedding!

17. The Parent Trap

Two very different girls meet and realise they are twin sisters. Annie and Hallie are off to summer camp, and it’s one they will definitely not forget in a long time.

This is the perfect movie to watch in the summer holidays.

18. Despicable Me

Directed by Steve Carell and voiced by Jason Segel and Elsie Fisher, Despicable Me is definitely one of our favourite family comedies. Supervillain Gru wants to steal the moon and he has an army of tiny little minions – you know the yellow ones!

But what he doesn’t see coming is three young orphan girls all want Gru to be their dad.

19. 13 Going on 30

Jennifer Garner is fantastic as she plays Jenna Rink, in this 2004 release. Jenna desperately wants to be 30. On her 13th birthday, she wholeheartedly makes a big birthday wish to be 30. She wants to be “thirty, flirty and thriving”. And she wakes up the next morning, with a very big surprise…
