Customer testimonial: Alison Funnell reviews Airband

We could shout all day about our ultra-reliable connections and lightning-fast speeds, but you don’t have to just take our word for it. Here’s Alison Funnell providing the inside info on what it’s like to be an Airband customer.

Alison has been a broadband customer with us since 2017, after moving house and being left without a decent broadband service from BT.

Having brought their previous broadband package with them, they quickly learned they couldn’t rely on an inconsistent service with poor download speeds. After researching other providers, Alison heard Airband were coming into the community to provide the connectivity they so desperately needed in Dartmoor, Devon.

We asked Alison some quick-fire questions about her previous broadband service, why she chose Airband, and how Airband helps Alison and her household to stay connected online doing what they love. Here’s what she had to say:

What was your broadband like before Airband?

Before Airband we were with BT as the only provider for our area. We were told that they were given government grants to provide fibre to the door, but this stalled especially when Airband was announced. As a community we felt abandon by BT, customer service was extremely poor and as a community found it impossible to obtain updates.

Speed was less that 1MB, reliability was extremely poor, we had issues all the time, poor customer service, and engineers found it very difficult to improve our service. After a few days we were back to issues.

When we bought our property in 2013 it had sky, and we brought our package with us. Little did we know we could not download anything due to unreliability and poor download speeds, so we could not avail ourselves of the package we were paying for. Since everything was done online, we could not use our internet. There were a number of businesses in locality and they were struggling and looking at all options too.

Why did you choose Airband as your provider?

Airband was being offered, so we did our research and felt this would be a good option.

What do you use the internet for the most?

Computers now my husband and I can be online together, with sky, we can actually download a movie and other products that require an internet connection, like alexa etc as well as looking a security products.

What do you like about Airband?

We can actually utilise the internet and since everything is done on the internet these days it is vital that in rural communities we are able to at least keep up with technology.

Would you recommend Airband to a friend?

Definitely and have done locally even with neighbours at the time. I was present when Airband representatives visited our community for a survey they were able to answer all the rumours and misinformation.

As a rural customer you can’t rely on BT to bring connectivity, if this system is available and people suffer the same appalling speeds as we did it’s a no brainer; I have continued to be a great supporter of Airband.

Customer service is excellent – yes you can report issues online, but you are kept updated or phone them. They have tech’s on hand who provide a first class service for us and run you through things to assist.

If you could sum Airband up in three words, what would it be?

Speed, Great Customer Service, Competitive Pricing.
