Can I get telephone over the internet?

When it comes to having a chat on the phone, we’re often totally oblivious to the technology that’s supporting it. With internet telephone calls, the same can definitely be said. VOIP phones are fast becoming a household must because of the many benefits they have…but…what is VOIP calling?!

VOIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol and means that what feels like an average telephone call is actually provided by an internet connection instead of travelling through phone lines in the once-popular method.

There are a few really great reasons as to why VOIP phones are so highly recommended – not least because of their low cost. The internet calls don’t have the usual call charges and large line rental bills to contend with either so, a chat with a friend or family member really can be worry-free. You don’t have to think about the price per minute and so, you can natter to your heart’s content!

Of course, it’s also worth noting the increased functionality that comes with a VOIP phone. Firstly, a super benefit of having a VOIP phone is that any incoming calls you receive will always be automatically routed to your VOIP phone – wherever you plug it in. So, as long as you’re connected to the internet, you’ll receive your calls.

To set up a VOIP phone is easier than A, B, C and is something you’ll never look back on! All you need is a reliable broadband connection – because if your service is prone to hiccups, so will your telephone service.

You’ll also need a Telephony Adaptor (TA) which will come with the service. You can plug the adaptor into any home phone using a standard jack – you’ll then plug the TA into the modem (using a standard network cable) and…off you go!
