UK summer 2022 video game releases

If you are looking for to stay out of the heat this summer, we have some suggestions for the season’s hottest new video game releases.

Whether you like first person shooter, story-driven or party games there is bound to be a video game in this list for you.

The Quarry (releasing on 10th June on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC)

The Quarry is a new IP from Supermassive Games and is envisioned as a spiritual successor to the massively successful Until Dawn.

The Quarry follows the story of 9 teenage camp counsellors setting up for a party to celebrate the last day of their stay.

Like Until Dawn, you will control each character and your decisions affect the way the night plays out.

Drawing heavy inspiration from classic 80’s slasher flicks, The Quarry seems like a home run for fans of story driven horror.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football (releasing on 10th June on Switch)

The first new entry in the Strikers series in almost 15 years, Battle League brings the over-the-top 5 a side football game to the Switch.

Much as Mario Kart is a colourful take on more realistic racing games, Battle League brings classic items, lax rules on tackling, and simplified gameplay to the football game genre.

If you are looking for a more child or party friendly version of FIFA for some summer couch gaming, Mario Strikers could be the game for you!

Saints Row (releasing on 23rd August on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC)

16 years on from the first Saints Row game, Volition are rebooting the series with a brand-new take on the popular franchise.

Whilst the overall theme of the game- acquiring territory for your gang- will remain the same, Volition have promised to turn away from some of the game’s wackier elements, and to draw instead from more recent action movies.

If you loved GTA 5 but are beginning to find it a little stale, and are unwilling to wait for GTA 6, this could be a great game for you.

Redfall (releasing in Summer on Xbox Series S/X, and PC)

Redfall is an open world co-op first person shooter from Arkane Austin, the studio behind Dishonoured and Prey.

The game follows a group of four survivors attempting to hold off an imminent invasion of their island town home by a horde of vampires and thralls.

With gameplay, reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, Borderlands and The Division, Redfall could be a great new way to party up and play this Summer.
