1. Grand Theft Auto V (2013)

Grand Theft Auto V is regarded as one of the most played and most loved games of all time, which is why we had to include it in our list of the best Playstation games.

Whether you want to steal a car or commit another felony, the world of San Andreas is your oyster.

Grand Theft Auto V: 21.3 million copies sold.

2. Gran Turismo 5 (2008)

Gran Turismo 5 is the highest-selling racing game on the PS3 and was the first Gran Turismo game to be seen on the console.

The game sported lots of new features including online gaming for up to 16 cars, a new dynamic damage model, over 1,000 cars, 29 different locations, and 77 different tracks.

Dynamic time and weather effects were also available for the first time in Gran Turismo in this title.

3. The Last of Us (2013)

The Last of Us is a much-known and much-loved series due to its popular recent remake, but it was also brilliant when it was originally released as a PlayStation game.

This action-adventure game was developed by Naughty Dog and released back in 2013.

You play as Joel, a smuggler tasked with transporting a young girl called Ellie safely across post-apocalyptic America.

It has been labelled by critics as one of the best games of all time, not just on PlayStation 3. So, if you haven’t played it already this could be the one for you to play this evening.

The Last of Us: 17 million copies sold.

4. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (2011)

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is an action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and is the third in the Uncharted series.

It’s based around the character Nathan Drake, who is searching for an ancient lost city while trying to evade an attack from his former employer.

While the game was received well on its release, it did not quite match up to the success of Uncharted 2, and this could be due to the fact that Naughty Dog had also been working on The Last of Us at the same time as this title, so less time and resource went into this game than the other.

It’s still a great game nevertheless and received many awards and accolades including the infamous game of the year award.

5. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the second game to be released in its series, and was a huge improvement on its predecessor (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune), which had been criticized for its graphics and story.

It received lots of praise from critics for its great voice-acting performances, story, set design and gameplay mechanics.

It’s also another game on this list to have received a game of the year award and is widely regarded as one of the best games released on the PlayStation 3.

6. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the sixth instalment in the Metal Gear series, made exclusively for PlayStation.

It’s a stealth game, set in a war-torn location and is one of the best-selling PS3 games of all time.

It received critical acclaim and was awarded game of the year, due to its brilliant mechanics, game design, features and, of course, a great plot. That’s why it sits firmly on our list of the best PS3 video games ever.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots: 6 million copies sold.

7. Batman: Arkham City (2011)

We couldn’t just ignore the entire Arkham series for this list.

It’s been played time after time by fans all over the world. After its success, we just had to include it in our list of the best PlayStation 3 video games.

Batman: Arkham City: 5.49 million copies sold.

8. God of War III (2010)

God of War III was released in 2010 as a Playstation exclusive with stunning visuals, set in Ancient Greece.

It’s an action-adventure hack-and-slash video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

God of War is still an iconic franchise today, with God of War: Ragnarok making both our lists of the best video games released in autumn 2022 and the best overall games released in 2022.

9. Gran Turismo 6 (2013)

Gran Turismo has appeared again on our list of best PlayStation 3 games!

There was a lot of hype around GT6 when they planned its release, but some fans say this particular title didn’t quite meet their expectation.

Having said that, it’s still one of the best games on this list.

10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)

Call of Duty is one of the most well-known and iconic franchises in gaming.

Despite its age, Modern Warfare is still loved by CoD fans now, especially since it was remastered in 2020.

It was the sixth instalment in the Call of Duty series and is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 1, where you play as a military task force, responsible for defending the USA against a Russian invasion.

It has received lots of critical acclaim since its release, due to its great multiplayer mode, engaging campaign and amount of content.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: 4.8 million copies sold.
