UK autumn 2022 video game releases

As Summer draws to a close, the time has come to look forward to Autumn, and specifically, what games we can curl up on the Sofa with.

This season looks set to offer some true heavy hitters and some returning fan favourites.

Slime Rancher 2 (releasing Fall 2022 on Xbox Series S/X and PC)

Monomi Park’s original Slime Rancher game is an adorable, colourful classic, and the sequel promises to be even cuter and more colourful.

You play again as Beatrix LeBeau, now in the Rainbow Island, with access with new slimes to ranch and new areas to explore.

Overwatch 2 (releasing 4th October on Xbox 1, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5, Switch and PC)

The first Overwatch game was a tour de force example of Blizzard’s polished design, with a host of memorable characters, enjoyable maps, and clever reactive gameplay.

The sequel offers more of the same, with an added focus on narrative through new addition Story Missions.

The game also offers brand new characters, maps, and gameplay, and will be free to play!

Skull and Bones (releasing 8th November on Xbox One, PS4 and PC)

It’s another Ubisoft open world game! If your brain immediately turns to sea shanties in Black Flag, then you are in the right neck of the woods, as many of the same team will be working on this title.

Offering a vast solo campaign and online ship-to-ship skirmishes, Skull and Bones aims to capitalise on Black Flag nostalgia and on Sea of Thieves’ recent successes.

God of War: Ragnarök (release date 9th November, on PS4 and PS5)

Santa Monica Studio’s last God of War entry won Game of the Year in 2018, and with good reason. The game sports a deep hack and slash combat system which has long been associated with the series, but added a surprisingly resonant story.

The new game continues to follow Kratos and Atreus’ complicated father son dynamic, but adds new antagonists in the form of Freya and Thor, and new dioramas to play in. If you like Norse mythology and stories with an epic sweep, this game is for you.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (release date 18th November on Switch)

Ah, another Pokémon game. This time based on Mediterranean/Spanish influences, Scarlet and Violet will continue the Pokémon Legends: Arceus trend of open world gameplay on a 3D plane, as well as new Pokémon to catch, new gameplay mechanics to master, and new characters to meet!
