Does Airband support IPv6?

At Airband, we are committed to providing you with a reliable internet connection and exceptional customer service. We understand that some of you may have questions about our network not supporting IPv6 connectivity.

What is IPv6?

IPv6, or Internet Protocol version 6 is the latest iteration of the Internet Protocol, which assigns unique IP addresses to devices on the Internet. This version was introduced to address the exhaustion of available IP addresses under the older IPv4 system.

Why Airband doesn’t support IPv6?

  1. Legacy Infrastructure: One of the primary reasons our network does not currently support IPv6 is that it was built using legacy infrastructure that is primarily configured for IPv4. This means that the hardware and software that power our network were designed to work with IPv4 addresses.
  2. Compatibility: IPv6 and IPv4 are not fully compatible with each other. While most modern devices are capable of handling both IP versions, transitioning our network to IPv6 would require significant investments and upgrades. This would impact our ability to maintain affordable services for our customers.
  3. Customer Base: As of now, our customer base relies on IPv4 for their internet needs. Transitioning to IPv6 would not provide immediate benefits to most of our customers and could potentially disrupt their current internet services.

What this means for you

While we currently do not support IPv6, rest assured that your internet connection remains stable and secure using IPv4. Most websites and online services are still accessible through IPv4, so you can continue to enjoy all your online activities without disruption.

If you ever encounter a situation where you need IPv6 connectivity for a specific purpose, we recommend reaching out to our customer support team. They can provide guidance and solutions for your needs, whether it involves workarounds or alternative configurations.
