Airband has sponsored Wem Cricket Club’s three senior men’s teams for the next three years, as part of its commitment to the community.

The sponsorship deal starts in April 2019 and is part of Airband’s new community partnership programme.

The sponsorship came about through Airband’s Shropshire-based community ambassador, Sara Pearce, who has been building brand awareness in the area.

Kev Dendy, who heads up Airband’s sales and marketing division, said:

“I wanted to find a great local club at the heart of one of the communities we serve, one which shares our values. The passion and commitment of Wem Cricket Club was the perfect fit for us.

“We hope that our new partnership will be a win all round: our networks in the area are relatively new, so we wanted to raise our profile amongst those living in the area. Wem Cricket Club needed to refresh their senior men’s kit this year and it’s a chance to demonstrate the community focus that is at the heart of all we do – especially as more and more local people will be able to access better broadband as our network in the area expands.

“We congratulate Wem Cricket Club on being current Shropshire County Champions and hope that we can be a part of their continued success in the future,” he said.

Shaun Astley, manager of WEM Cricket Club, said the team are extremely excited to be teaming up with Airband.

A major part of our strategy is to improve links with the local community and this partnership helps us to do this. Several members of the club have already signed up with Airband and they are very impressed with the service.  As a club, we are very happy with the support Kevin and his team have given the club since signing the deal.

This year’s Henshalls Shropshire Premier league promises to be a very strong league and we look forward to a exciting year of cricket on the field and off the field we look forwards to building our relationship with Airband.

Airband continues to work on several broadband projects across Shropshire and other rural areas in the UK, to boost access to superfast broadband.
