Airband the rural broadband provider announces that residents across its network in the southwest of England and Wales will be treated to their latest TV ad campaign from today.
The TV ad features the voiceover of BAFTA award-winning comedy actor Charlie Cooper characterised as a duck who is comparing life in the countryside with the conveniences of living in a city to highlight Airband’s innovative connectivity solutions for rural communities.
James Hyland, Head of Marketing, Airband said: “For too long communities and businesses outside of major cities have had to put up with little to no broadband provision. Airband changes all of that, our funny and slightly tongue-in-cheek campaign shows that we understand that country life is very much like city life, just with a better view! You can watch the ad on our YouTube channel here.”
Recognising that rural connectivity is just as, if not more important than a reliable connection in more populated areas, Airband is aiming to connect residents using a number of different connection types offering speeds from 150Mbps over its next-generation fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions and up to 900Mbps over fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) sections of its network.
The TV ad comes from the London creative agency The Corner who worked with Illustrator Andrew Rae. Titled ‘What do they know?’ the campaign challenges the lazy stereotypes that are often used to characterise life in the countryside. In addition to the TV spots airing on ITVX and through the Sky AdSmart platform, there has been significant investment in the campaign which will see radio, OOH and digital activity running alongside the TV work into October of this year.
Tom Ewart, Chief Creative Officer and Founding Partner, The Corner, said: “Just because you live in the countryside, doesn’t mean you don’t ‘internet’. Netflix, COD, Zoom calls, crypto trading, carbonara tutorials, doomscrolling… are just as important to people living in a small market town as EC1. And our indignant village duck, voiced by the very charming Charlie Cooper, makes this point in no uncertain terms.”
Residents who are looking for better speeds can check their postcode on the Airband website www.airband.co.uk and register their details or buy a service that suits their needs. Alternatively, the sales team are on hand to provide information and guidance on connectivity options. Call 01905 676 121.
