Airband appoints two community ambassadors

Airband, superfast internet service provider for rural and isolated areas in England and Wales, has appointed two community ambassadors to work in two of its key project areas – Shropshire and Devon.
Anna Tansley joins as community ambassador for Devon and Sara Pearce joins as community ambassador for Shropshire. Both are communications professionals with decades of experience across a range of industry sectors.
Airband marketing manager, Simon Britton, Said:
“We want to be at the heart of the communities we work in. Our aim is to engage and connect with residents and businesses in remote and rural areas – providing the superfast broadband they need and also helping to strengthen their communities.
“We’re delighted to have our Anna and Sara on board. Both have a great track record and we know they will be playing a key role in helping us build relationships with the communities we serve.”
Sara spent five years in community engagement with Shropshire Wildlife Trust and was part of a working group setting up a new tech and engineering university in Hereford. Anna joins from CDS, Connecting Devon & Somerset where she was responsible for digital communication for the government-funded superfast broadband programme.
Their role will incorporate community engagement, presentations to local groups and schools and overseeing Airband’s free wifi programme for community hubs such as village halls or churches.
Sara and Anna join 20 new hires across the business in the last two months. Their arrival also follows Airband’s plans announced in November to integrate RuralOptic, its bespoke FTTP solution, into its current network deployments.
