Airband, the inclusive broadband provider that brings ultrafast connections to country communities, has announced the appointment of Kash Rahman as Managing Director. Airband Founder Redmond ‘Red’ Peel has stood down as CEO and will continue to share his knowledge and experience in a non-executive capacity.

Kash Rahman has been with Airband since 2020 and has been unanimously chosen to take on the leadership of the business by the Senior Management Team, shareholders and non-executive directors.

Since being founded in the UK, Airband has grown its unique fibre network, which covers circa 315,000 properties (of which c.230,000 are ready for service) and has gained an excellent reputation for delivering high-speed broadband to rural and hard-to-reach areas. Having attracted more than £200m investment into the business, Airband is now focused on growing its customer base across its network, as well as tactical expansion where opportunity arises.

Kash Rahman, Managing Director of Airband, said: “I’m very proud to take up this role, especially at this exciting point in the Airband journey. We have a great opportunity to maximise our network and accelerate the connection of more customers to ultrafast broadband in areas which have been previously underserved. Airband has built an outstanding network in rural regions and together with our talented and experienced team, we plan to grow our consumer base rapidly and transform the lives of customers in countryside communities.”

Before joining Airband, Kash Rahman studied engineering and applied his strategic thinking to managing operational teams for businesses across the UK and Europe. Having gained an MBA he pivoted to focusing on business growth and commercialisation strategies and joined Airband where he was part of the original standing executive team. His promotion to Managing Director is a natural progression having played a part in the set-up and deployment of numerous elements of the business in the last three years.

Red Peel, Non-Executive Director of Airband, said: “As both Founder and CEO of Airband it has been an honour to lead the business to where it is today, and having worked with Kash for the last few years, I know I am passing its leadership on into very capable hands. I look forward to Airband’s further growth and development in the coming years, as well as supporting the team from my new Non-Executive Director position.”
