Airband has announced its new mission statement: “Transforming connectivity for people and communities who deserve better.” The statement underpins the firm’s intention to consolidate and grow its position as a leader in connectivity for under-served communities and demand-led projects.

Redmond Peel, founder and director of Airband, said:

“We wanted to start the new year by officially announcing our new mission statement – we’re excited about what this new year and the future holds for us as a company and for the telecoms industry as a whole. We’ve been through a six-month rebranding process, which has involved a focus on the values we embody as a company and the values we want to demonstrate to our customers and our staff. This mission statement is our overall guiding statement as we go forwards into the new decade, with all our expertise supporting our energy and ambition.”

Founded in December 2009, Airband’s announcement also marks its recent 10-year anniversary. Over the past decade, Airband has specialised in providing connectivity to remote and hard-to-reach areas via government-funded and demand-led projects. More recently, some of its demand-led projects have also been in rural towns.

“We’ve grown very rapidly as a company,” explained Mr Peel. “We started out building wireless networks for remote areas and we have now become one of the UK’s leading hybrid broadband providers, delivering both fibre and wireless broadband across at least 15 different counties in England and Wales. In our fibre delivery, our preferred method is to deliver fibre using overhead fibre. This means we can deploy fibre broadband more quickly than traditional fibre dig alone or wireless only deployments.”

Earlier this year, Airband chairman, Mark Stansfeld spoke at the industry-leading Connected Britain conference, where the main thrust of his message underlined the wider importance of connectivity as a force for social change and a catalyst for helping to build a more sustainable world.

“The UK’s departure from the European Union opens up opportunities for alternative network providers. The UK really needs to have the best possible connectivity as fast as possible, and smaller independent providers like Airband need to work together to create the playing field that enables us all, the customer and the country to win,” said Mr Stansfeld.
