Airband has been shortlisted in the Best Rural Infrastructure category for this year’s ISPA Awards, the largest, longest running and one of the most coveted internet industry awards in the UK.

The ISPAs celebrate the best providers in the sector. 2024 sees Airband amongst the nominees at the 26th annual awards for its ‘Agile AltNet’ approach to connecting hard to reach communities with its use of emerging fixed wireless technologies.

The award nomination recognises Airband’s innovative approach to utilising next generation Fixed Wireless Solutions to provide faster than ever before broadband to countryside communities in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. In rural and remote areas of these counties fibre broadband is not available, but Airband’s deployment of new technologies and the rollout of the new AirSpeed 150 product has seen a surge of new customers.

“We’re proud to have been nominated in the ISPA Best Rural Infrastructure category for our superfast FWA broadband solutions in countryside communities. Airband will always be fibre first, but in 2024 we have begun the journey of revolutionising what wireless broadband an AltNet can provide to rural customers,” said James Hyland, Head of Marketing, Airband.

Amongst those connected via the new offering in Worcestershire was Roger Carr, Landlord of Mamble’s ‘The Sun & Slipper” pub. He commented, “Since the installation of Airband the pub and its customers are benefitting from much faster and more reliable broadband. Something we just couldn’t do previously.”

The nomination follows Airband winning the ‘Best Community Project’ prize at 2023’s INCA awards. The ISPA’s 2024 take place on November 23rd.
